Microsoft Edge Removed In windows 10 Build 19043.889

Windows 10 operating system comes with three pre-installed browsers that includes 2 versions of Microsoft Edge, while the third one is IE (Internet Explorer). IE is actually an optional browser in the OS that a user can enable anytime when required.

In all above mentioned three, Microsoft is about to trim the older Edge browser while the IE will remain there and not getting removed.

For the users who are still unaware, the older MS Edge browser is still reported to be hanging in Windows 10 version 20H2 or older ones. But, the legacy version fo Edge is hidden when a user moves to Chromium powered Edge, but still the hidden once can be accessed by advanced Windows users.

As per the announcement from Microsoft in January, it has confirmed the plan to eliminate older Edge permanently, and will deliver only the new Chromium based Edge browser. And now, with the Windows 10 Build 19043.899 that is currently available for download for Insiders, the older version of MS Edge is completely removed.

Means, when the user installs the new beta update on their machine, the new MS Edge will be installed automatically, while the older one would not be accessible anymore.

Also, this is confirmed by the tech giant Microsoft into its update documentation in which it has confirmed that Windows 10 21H1 is the very first version to deliver users with no legacy version of Edge.

Microsoft to remove Edge in older versions of windows 10

With the above information, it’s also worth to mention that Microsoft has plans to eliminate the legacy Edge from older Windows 10 versions as well.

For older version of Windows users, the upcoming cumulative update which is to be released in April this year, the older Edge will be completely removed. The older versions of Windows include version 20H2, 2004 and others.

Means, with the new update, the users will be enforced to switch to new Edge version. This also indicates the the older version and its files will be removed when updated with upcoming updates.

In addition to removal of legacy Edge, the new upcoming cumulative update is also expected to fix various BSOD and printing problems which were reported by users recently.
