Guide to use Apple’s lossless audio feature on Android SmartPhones

We have discussed in our previous article about Apple Music Lossless audio, which is a major upgrade added by added to its streaming service. We saw, how it stands out against rivalries like Spotify, Tidal, and Amazon Music HD.

One common question people often ask whether this Lossloss feature works on Android devices. The answer is yes. The Lossless CD-quality music playback and also Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio – both are coming to Android too, as a part of Apple Music for Android beta release.

So, if you are running the Apple Music Android beta, click on the three dots > Settings > Audio Quality > Enable Lossless audio toggle button. Then, click on the WiFI/ Cellular streaming quality and select the options from Lossless (24-bit/48kHz) and Hi-Res Lossless (24-bit/192KHz).

You can enjoy the music with the lossless quality on your Android without the need of headphones. However, you require an external DAC adapter for HI-Res quality, unless it has the built-in one. In the devices like LG G5, LG V60 ThinQ, and Razer Phone 2, you will find built-in DAC support.

If you are a new user, unfortunately, all slots of the Apple Music Beta release are full.  So, you have to ask to your friends if they already subscribed to the Beta program. If yes, try the lossless music on their devices for better idea.

The Lossless audio undoubtedly consumes more data than a normal AAC song. On an average, a three-minute song on lossless 24-bit/48kHz will take around 38 MB of space of the device and the same will charge you 145 MB of space for Hi-Res (24-bit/192kHz).
